Frequently Asked Questions
Practical information to help you prepare for your Adriatic cruise. Select a topic below to see the details.
Clothing and packing
Dress is generally casual and comfortable. Pack lightweight clothing, swimwear, a sun hat, a sweater or light jacket for evenings, a waterproof layer, comfortable walking shoes, water shoes, sunglasses, sunscreen, personal medication, mosquito repellent, a small daypack and a beach towel where needed.
Crew and assistance on board
Crew numbers and roles vary by vessel. The captain and crew manage navigation and onboard services; some cruises also have a dedicated cruise manager. English-speaking assistance is generally available, but the precise staffing arrangements depend on your selected ship and programme.
Currency and onboard payments
Croatia uses the euro (EUR). Payment methods for onboard bar purchases, optional excursions, port charges and other extras vary by vessel and service provider. Some ships may require cash; card acceptance should not be assumed. Check the information for your selected cruise and bring some euros in cash.
Travel documents
All guests must have valid travel documents and any visas or entry permissions required for their itinerary and nationality. Check current requirements with the relevant authorities before departure. Please inform us promptly if a document issue could affect your boarding. Guests remain responsible for meeting applicable travel-document requirements.
Electricity and charging
Croatia normally uses European Type C and F plugs, with a nominal supply of 230 V / 50 Hz. Onboard sockets, charging facilities and power availability vary by ship; check the vessel details if you need a particular adapter or medical-device supply.
Emergency numbers and delayed arrival
In Croatia call 112 for general emergencies, 194 for ambulance, 192 for police, or 193 for fire services. If your flight is delayed or you might miss embarkation, contact Croatia Cruise as soon as possible so we can advise you on the next steps; joining a vessel later may involve additional costs and is not guaranteed.
Gratuities
Tips for the crew and cruise manager are generally voluntary and reflect your satisfaction with the service. Any suggested gratuity amount, if applicable to your cruise, will be shown in the programme or communicated before departure.
Travel insurance
We strongly recommend travel insurance that includes appropriate medical treatment, emergency assistance, trip interruption and cancellation protection. Verify the coverage and exclusions of your policy before travelling.
Wi-Fi and mobile coverage
Where Wi-Fi is provided, the connection may rely on mobile networks and may be slow or unavailable in remote bays or while sailing. It should not be relied on for uninterrupted video calls or work. Availability and any charges vary by vessel.
Itinerary changes and the captain's decisions
The captain is responsible for navigation and vessel safety. Weather, sea conditions, port restrictions, operational requirements or local circumstances may require changes to stop order, swim breaks, ports or excursions. The published itinerary is therefore subject to reasonable operational changes; applicable booking terms and guest rights remain in force.
Meals and dietary requirements
Meals typically feature Croatian and Mediterranean cuisine. Breakfast and lunch are often included on small-ship itineraries, while dinner arrangements vary. Check the Included / Not Included section of your specific cruise for the exact meal plan. Please disclose allergies, intolerances and special dietary needs before booking; requests are subject to confirmation and onboard capabilities.
Drinks and food brought on board
Most vessels operate an onboard bar, with drinks charged according to the ship's price list unless otherwise specified. Rules about bringing your own drinks or food on board can vary and may be restricted. Ask us about the policy for your vessel, particularly for infant food, medically necessary items or special dietary products.
Captain's dinner
Some programmes include a captain's dinner; others offer it for an additional charge or do not feature it. Refer to the programme's Included / Not Included information rather than assuming that it is part of every cruise.
Noise, mooring and shared spaces
Small ships may berth alongside other vessels in busy harbours. Guests may need to cross a neighbouring ship to reach the quay. Harbour activity, shore events and other vessels can cause noise, particularly on overnight stops. Please respect fellow guests and the crew's quiet-hours instructions.
Safety on board
Follow all safety briefings and instructions from the captain and crew. Ships carry required safety equipment, and its location will be explained on board. Children must be supervised by their accompanying adults, especially near open decks, gangways and water.
Swimming opportunities
Swim stops are dependent on weather, sea conditions, maritime rules and the captain's decision. Not every day or itinerary can guarantee swimming from the vessel. Always follow crew instructions before entering the water.
Booking, deposit and final payment
A booking inquiry is not an automatic confirmed reservation. Once your booking is confirmed in writing, a 30% non-refundable deposit is due within 5 days, and the remaining balance is due 60 days before departure, subject to the applicable Terms & Conditions and any mandatory consumer rights. Please read the current Terms & Conditions before confirming.
What is included in the cruise price?
Inclusions differ by programme, ship, departure and cabin category. Review the specific programme's Included / Not Included section for meals, port taxes, tourist fees, excursions, entrance fees, transfers and other extras. Your written offer and booking confirmation will provide the applicable details.
